Loyalty programs and customer consent: a practical guide
Collect only what you need, ask clearly before marketing, and make it easy to say no. A plain-language checklist.

Customers share their details because they trust you. Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) sets expectations for how that information is handled. This article is general guidance, not legal advice.
Collect the minimum
A name and a mobile number are enough to run a loyalty card. Ask for email or birthday only if you will use them.
Separate loyalty from marketing
Joining the program and agreeing to receive offers are two different choices. Walaora records marketing consent separately, with the date and source.
Make withdrawal easy
- Customers can ask you to stop messages at any time
- Owners can update consent from the customer profile
- Deleting a customer removes their personal data
Limit who sees what
Staff need to find a card, not read a phone number. Walaora masks numbers for staff and logs sensitive actions.
